We are currently seeking qualified applicants for the following positions.


Maintenance Apprentice

Works as an apprentice maintenance resource; mentored by maintenance technicians and/or maintenance supervisor with the goal of earning maintenance technician status.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for snow removal at all parking lots, sidewalks, emergency exits and officer’s residences.
  • Assists maintenance department in diverse tasks including installing and maintaining production machinery, supporting equipment, and facility equipment and machinery.
  • With the assistance of maintenance technician executes emergency/unscheduled repairs of production machinery, supporting equipment, and facility equipment and machinery.
  • Performs building maintenance tasks such as cleaning filters, drains, inspecting fire safety, bathroom maintenance, and other related tasks.
  • Performs office building related installation and maintenance including, but not limited to furniture assembly, data/ power installations, plumbing and lighting repair.
  • Uses a variety of hand and power tools to complete maintenance and repair tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence..
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpreter bar graphs. Must have a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license.

Maintenance Technician – General Maintenance and or Electrical maintenance

Maintenance Technician- Electrical reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and acts in support of plant production by performing necessary equipment and facility repairs, scheduled preventive maintenance procedures, and plant projects.

Responsibilities

  • Know and follow all safety rules and procedures for all areas of the plant.
  • Perform work completely and with quality. Do not cut corners.
  • Upon completion of a job, clean up the area where the service was performed.
  • Must be able to read and understand electrical as well as mechanical drawings.
  • Experience in Trouble-shooting/repair of electrical and mechanical systems as well as CNC equipment. Is a plus.
  • Experience in Trouble-shooting/repair and programming of electrical systems to include PLCs and HMIs. Is a plus.
  • Experience in Trouble-shooting/repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems including pumps, valves, motors and various drive trains. Is a Plus.

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus two years related experience and/or training.
Troubleshooting and repair experience in electrical and mechanical systems.
Proficiency with PLCs and HMIs , variable frequency drives, and control/operating voltages from 5 VDC to 480 VAC a plus

Engineering Technician – Cad and Manufacturing Cost Estimator

To assist the engineering staff.

Responsibilities

  • Produces CAD drawings in accordance with required specifications and project parameters for assigned Engineering projects.
  • Creates and revises engineering drawings with AutoCAD and Inventor CAD system.
  • Manages and organizes engineering drawings and documents both in electronic and paper format.
  • Creates and revises spreadsheets and documents for engineering/manufacturing management.
  • Researches and cross references customer catalogs and websites to create proper BOM.
  • Analyzes drawings, CAD data, parts lists and other technical specifications to determine scope of work, accurate manufacturing costs and lead times.
  • Gathers data to estimate all production costs according to company specifications.
  • Produces cost estimates and required proposal documents for potential client opportunities.
  • Develops cost estimating quote sheets and/or other assigned documentation to ensure retention of all quoting assumptions, parameters, boundaries, and decisions.
  • Reviews and assesses the quality of estimates and validates estimates using internal and external data sources.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Engineering Manager.
  • Provides secretarial services for engineering/manufacturing management, as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), with an emphasis on drafting and CAD. College or junior college training in drafting and CAD or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Machine Operators

Elgin Industries seeks qualified applicants for the position of Machine Operators – These positions perform a variety of entry level, semi-skilled and/or a skill task, Operates, adjusts, and troubleshoots production equipment.
Operates basic manufacturing equipment in the machining department to fabricate metal parts by performing the following duties.
Schedule: Monday – Thursday: Full Time: 1st shift (6am -4:30pm), 2nd shift (4:30pm – 3am);
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Loads and operates assigned equipment.
  • Understands and follows work instructions at each assigned workstation.
  • Monitors process for quality; makes decisions on starting/stopping process according to quality of product.
  • Performs visual and level 4 quality inspections during production, using instruments such as micrometers, calipers, etc. to ensure parts are good if not to scrap parts.
  • Makes offset adjustments based on quality of product.
  • Performs basic tooling changes based on supervisor instructions.
  • Cross-trains as needed on other equipment.
  • Maintains records as instructed.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Manufacturing Technology Analyst

We are looking for an innovative Manufacturing Technology Analyst to drive sourcing transactions with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels. To monitor or measure processes to identify ways to reduce losses, decrease time requirements, or improve quality. Monitor the productivity or efficiency of industrial operations. This position directly to the President of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative approaches to review supply chain process effectiveness and explore logistics solutions for customers and suppliers.
  • Prepares and monitors plan of action and schedule to improve quality, reduce cost and maximize efficiency throughout the product lifecycle
  • Assist in monitoring and identifying manufacturing costs, Labor and Overhead absorption, Work-In-Process inventory, freight and duties ensure timeliness and accuracy Ensure process integrity within Cost/Inventory and work with team members to resolve process issues
  • Analyzes data to make recommendations on projects requiring Production and inventory practices.
  • Performs technical and administrative activities to meet regulatory, production and process requirements.
  • Identify opportunities where sound business process design can be used to enhance and improve the organization
  • Direct and manage corporate governance and regulatory compliance procedures related to material management operations
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability
  • Develop key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of business processes
  • Coordinate with receiving, production and engineering to ensure ample supply and efficient movement of materials
  • Provide for the development and maintenance of inventory control systems to track status of purchase orders, inventory levels and production requirements
  • Collaborate with QA on the development of inbound material specifications and qualification processes to insure that supplied materials meet organizational needs
  • Collaborate with QA on the development and implementation of in-process specifications and control processes to insure that our process yields acceptable results
  • Lead root cause problem-solving efforts regarding supplier-related problems
  • Responsible for the management, control and organization of all inventory, including costs, conducting physical inventories, and warehouse management
  • Analyze and report production costs at standard and actual and provide explanations as products move through the process
  • Analyze and report process efficiency, production variances including price variance, material variance, labor variance, and volume variance
  • Supports production, business, and other processes in a team-based environment.
  • Performs activities in a variety of cross-functional areas including production planning and control, total quality management, systems, manufacturing, equipment and facilities engineering, material management, and process reengineering.
  • Preparing cost-benefit analysis reports for review by managers.
  • Documenting processes and generating monthly supply cost reports.
  • Coach, train, manage, and review the performance of personnel

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering and 6 years of relevant work experience.Demonstrated experience working on teams and projects in a leadership capacity.General knowledge of manufacturing. Knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), production planning, and material management.
