Software Developer
As a Software Developer at Elgin Industries you will be responsible for writing reliable, maintainable, efficient and scalable business applications in a Windows, NET, WPF Desktop application environment to support our users. You will collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to bring creative concepts to life and get in on the ground floor of a new project at Elgin that will be used across both the manufacturing and distribution floor and the corporate office.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with a minimum of 1 year relevant experience. Solid understanding of C#.NET, T-SQL, WPF, LINQ and Git. Proficiency with Visual Studio, SSMS, Azure DevOps and MS Office products. VB.NET, Python or Cobol experience is a plus.
Material Handler
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Material Handler to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for moving product to appropriate areas based on supervisor instructions, pulls and delivers product from racking, bins, and storage areas, Wraps and weights packages and skids, stacks raw material in storage area and scans it into inventory, safely handles scrap during and after production run, keeps areas clean and organized in a 5S manner, may assists in training of other employees as required.

The Material Handler’s work directly impacts our ability to meet delivery schedules and customer expectations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Valid Driver’s License.
Control Room Operator
Elgin Industries is looking for a Control Room Operator to join our dynamic 3rd shift team located in Elgin, Illinois!
As a Control Room Operator you will control furnaces that perform hardening, carburizing, annealing and tempering of steel. You will oversee and at times assist in performing secondary Operations, such as shot blasting, tumbling, racking, straightening, preparing loads and washing.
Key Responsibilities:
Operates our Modern “State of the Art” Distributive Control System over all heat treat furnaces.
Directs up to three subordinate furnace handlers (Heat Treaters).
Provides forklift support to furnace handlers as needed.
Processes heat treat requirements through close interaction with our Heat Treat Supervisor.
Performs furnace control verifications using batch reports and infrared gas analyzers.
Handles related paperwork and sign-offs.
Operates forklifts, overhead cranes as needed.
Assists furnace handlers (Heat Treaters) as needed.
Performs preventive and minor maintenance as needed.
Fills in for absent employees if needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and/or move over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
